Chairman's Statement issued 19 February 2026
The Parish Council recognises that planning matters can generate strong, sincerely held views. Councillors expect and welcome representations made through appropriate democratic channels. In this context, it is important to remember that the parish councils are official consultees, not planning decision-makers.
Councillors and their families must not be subjected to personal contact, intimidation, or harassment in connection with council business. Such behaviour is unacceptable.
The Parish Council therefore requests that all correspondence and representations on planning matters be directed to the Clerk or submitted via the appropriate published consultation process.

Local Government Reorganisation
Beaulieu Parish Council, along with 13 other local New Forest parish councils and the New Forest Association of Local Councils, have signed an open letter to Sir Julian Lewis MP, opposing any LGR proposal that splits the New Forest or places it within a predominantly urban authority. We have also said that:
- Service delivery across our New Forest community, protecting landscapes, and sustaining community identity requires distinct governance arrangements;
- The Option 1 ‘Mid-Hampshire’ option 1 is currently the only viable proposal for the New Forest area;
- The April 2028 implementation deadline presents a high risk of service disruption and failure; and
- Parish and Town councils should be involved throughout the transition process.

Governance
The parish council's Standing Orders and Policies set out the how it operates. Its financial dealings are managed under its Financial Regulations and its approved annual budget, which also sets the annual Precept for the year. NFDC pays our Precept in two instalments during the year and then includes this in its Council Tax charge. The 2024/25 Precept was £19,036, which has been increased by 2.3% to £19,469 for 2025/26. The detail behind this charge is set out in the approved 2025/26 budget.
The parish council's activities last year were reported earlier this year in its 2024 Annual Review.
