80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day
As we mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we do so with deep gratitude and solemn reflection. Today, we honour the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of those who fought for our freedom during the Second World War. Their legacy lives on in the peace we enjoy and the democratic values we uphold. We remember not only the servicemen and women who gave so much, but also the families, communities, and volunteers who supported them on the home front with strength and resilience.
Traffic flow in the village
Beaulieu Parish Council has been monitoring the speed of traffic passing through the village. With NFDC's help we installed monitors over 3 one week periods in 2024 covering the higher risk areas of the High St and also Palace Lane hill where cars enter the village from, and leave the village towards, Hilltop. Whilst there are some instances of speeding, these are better than the national average of speeding in a 30MPH area. Whilst the council's conclusion, based on this work, is that the 30 mph speed limit is effective, monitoring road safety will continue to be a key aspect of the council's work. Governance
The parish council's Standing Orders and Policies set out the how it operates. Its financial dealings are managed under its Financial Regulations and its approved annual budget, which also sets the annual Precept for the year. NFDC pays our Precept in two instalments during the year and then includes this in its Council Tax charge. The 2024/25 Precept was £19,036, which has been increased by 2.3% to £19,469 for 2025/26. The detail behind this charge is set out in the approved 2025/26 budget.
The parish council's activities last year were reported in its 2024 Annual Review.
