An intrepid band of some 35 pilgrims, ignoring the threat of dire weather, bravely sallied forth from Beaulieu in a coach and visited Wells Cathedral.

We stopped en route for a comfort break at Wilton Retail Outlet originally Wilton Carpet Factory. An interesting place – you should visit it with your wallet handy! We arrived in Wells after an uneventful coach ride.
We found it to be very compact but there was little time to explore or to visit the Bishop’s Palace. We enjoyed Lamb Casserole in the Cathedral cafeteria – no one was surprised when one of our party cheekily scrounged a second helping! We wandered about for a while visiting the excellent gift shop and introduced ourselves to the two cathedral cats asleep alongside radiators and oblivious to us. We were divided into two groups by Frederick, Sheep and Goats, and we all enjoyed a guided tour and learned things that we would not have observed otherwise.
The highlight of our day was sitting in the Choir and listening at close quarters to choral evensong sung by the very professional cathedral choir. We climbed back on our coach and arrived back in Beaulieu after an uneventful journey but we all agreed it was a good day and thank Frederick for organising it so well.
